Area of Expertise

Alexander cut his teeth as a practice trainee and, subsequently, associate in the Commercial and Corporate Disputes Practice of WongPartnership LLP. He has been involved in a broad range of matters including high-value commercial disputes in both court and arbitration settings, as well as investment treaty disputes before ad hoc arbitral tribunals. He has also assisted in advising foreign governments on issues of public and private international law. In keeping with his interest in international dispute resolution, Alexander co-authored a paper published in a dispute resolution journal on the setting aside of investment treaty awards in Singapore courts.

In his university days, Alexander was awarded the Amarjeet Singh SC Law Prize for Public International Law and was an accomplished mooter, having represented Singapore Management University in various mooting competitions. Notably, he was part of the team that claimed two consecutive National Round championships in the prestigious Phillip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition (2017 and 2018), clinching the best oralist award locally and ranking 7th top oralist globally from among over 600 teams. When he was a practice trainee, he also emerged a finalist in the Essex Court Chambers-Singapore Academy of Law Moot, a moot open to junior practitioners from Singapore and the region.


Litigation & International Arbitration

  • Acting for various Singapore companies and businessmen in successfully defending an SIAC Emergency Arbitration application and in ongoing proceedings before the Singapore High Court to set aside interim relief obtained in arbitration. The Emergency Arbitration application was for a freezing order over assets up to the value of over S$83 million.
  • Acting for an Indian company and businessman in ongoing appeals before the Singapore Court of Appeal concerning issues of a breaches of a revenue-sharing agreement and of duties in an agency relationship.
  • Acting for beneficiaries of a Labuan Foundation in obtaining an injunction in the Singapore High Court to freeze the use or disposal of Foundation assets.


  • Co-wrote an article – “Setting Aside an Investment Arbitration Award: A Case Brief of Swissbourgh v Lesotho”, (2019) ICC Dispute Resolution Bulletin Issue 1.
