Arthur is a Counsel with the firm. His practice focuses on complex, high-stakes disputes.

Arthur regularly assists on matters involving urgent interlocutory reliefs, complex issues, and multiple parties and jurisdictions. Arthur has appeared before all levels of the Singapore courts, including the Court of Appeal and the Appellate Division of the High Court. He has obtained reported judgments at both levels.

A keen advocate, Arthur has successfully argued a landmark decision on early-stage applications under the Rules of Court 2021, and prevailed in a contested trademark opposition before the IPOS Tribunal. He has also made opening submissions and conducted cross-examinations in civil trials before both the General Division of the High Court and in commercial arbitration proceedings.

Prior to joining the firm, Arthur practised at a prominent local firm, working with Senior Counsel. He graduated with an LL.B. (Hons) from the Singapore Management University School of Law in 2019 and was admitted to the Singapore Bar as an Advocate & Solicitor in 2020.

Arthur is fluent in English and Mandarin.

Professional Experience

  • Advised and acted for a former company director in respect of claims pertaining to the tort of deceit (fraud), knowing receipt and lawful and unlawful means conspiracy. In this case, Arthur successfully argued in the Registrar’s Appeal that the application for further & better particulars should be filed prior to the SAPT. This matter is reported in the decision of
    Hertel Singapore Pte. Ltd. And anor. V Cheng Swee Guan and ors. [2025] SGHC 138.
  • Advised and acted for an Indian hotel owner in a Court of Appeal matter seeking to set aside two partial awards rendered in three consolidated SIAC arbitrations. This matter is reported in the decision of Palm Grove Beach Hotels Pvty Ltd v Hilton Worldwide Manage Ltd and anor [2025] 1 SLR 526.
  • Advised and acted for a Singapore company to resist trademark opposition filed before the IPOS. This matter is reported in the decision of Craft Drinks Pte. Ltd. V Tapout Pte. Ltd. [2024] SGIPOS 7.
  • Advised and acted for a group of investors in a multi-million-dollar fraud and asset recovery case on cryptocurrencies. This matter is reported in the decision of The Micro Tellers Network Ltd and ors. V Cheng Yi Han and ors. [2023] 5 SLR 280.
  • Advised and acted for a major Chinese entity in respect of a case on fraud and negligence. This matter has been reported in the decisions of Luckin Coffee Inc v Interactive Digital Finance Ltd [2024] 1 SLR 254 and Interactive Digital Finance Ltd v Credit Suisse AG and anor [2023] 5 SLR 1735.
  • Advised and acted for a major audit company in a professional negligence claim brought by the liquidators of Hyflux Ltd. This matter has been reported in the decisions of Hyflux (in compulsory liquidation) and others v Lum Ooi Lin [2024] 3 SLR 1158 and Hyflux Ltd (in compulsory liquidation) and ors v Lum Ooi Lin [2023] SGHC 84.
  • Assisted and acted for an individual in a contested hearing on the approach of the Court’s review of insolvency practitioner’s discretion under the Insolvency, Restructuring & Dissolution Act involving novel points of law. This matter is reported in the decision of Zhang Hong En Jonathan v Private Trustee in Bankruptcy of the estate of Zhang Hong’En Jonathan [2021] 4 SLR 139.
  • Assisted and acted for a Singapore company in respect of claims relating to conversion and negligent misrepresentation and fraud tort of deceit (fraud) at the civil trial and the assessment of damages proceedings. This matter is reported in Hock Tong Bee Pte Ltd v Quek Hock Tiong and anor [2021] SGDC 296.
  • Assisted and acted for a large Singapore metals recycling company in a fraud and asset recovery case involving 9 parties with a claim value in excess of $45 million.
  • Assisted and acted for a Singapore director in the discharge of a worldwide Mareva injunction preventing the dissipation of assets up to $45 million.
  • Assisted and acted for a Singapore construction company at the trial of HC/S 335/2022 in respect of a claim made against an insurer on the breach of an insurance contract. Made oral opening speech and cross-examined expert witnesses during the concurrent expert evidence procedure at trial. The matter was settled post-trial before judgment was issued.
  • Assisted and acted for a Hainanese clan at the Court of Appeal in respect of a board dispute resulting in the winding up of the clan. The matter is reported here.
  • Assisted and acted for a Chinese entity in HC/OA 244/2024 in respect of an application to obtain judicial assistance from the General Division of the High Court on the giving of testimony in Singapore.
  • Assisted and acted for an Indian entity in the preparation of Quia Timet injunctions. The matter was settled outside of court.
  • Assisted and acted for a director and majority shareholder of a Singapore healthcare chain in a dispute valued at more than S$1 billion. The matter was settled outside of court.
  • Assisted and acted for a Vietnamese company in an arbitration claim for breach of contract in the sum of US$50 million under the SIAC Rules 2016.
  • Assisted and acted for a Singapore construction company in respect of claims pertaining to breach of contract.
