Providence Law Asia recognised as a leading criminal defence practice in Singapore

Doyle’s Guide has recognised Providence Law Asia’s criminal defence practice led by managing director Abraham Vergis as one of Singapore’s leading criminal defence practices. Abraham has also been recognised for his work in the criminal defence space. Recent successes include obtaining rare acquittals for a pro bono client accused of multiple rape and other serious sexual crime charges in Public Prosecutor v Mohd Ariffan bin Mohd Hassan [2019] 2 SLR 490; acquittals on 4 out of 5 charges for a company director for substantial GST fraud offences in Loon Wai Yang v Public Prosecutor [2020] SGHC 34; and successfully resisting an appeal in the High Court by prosecutors who were seeking to double the jail term for an oil trader accused of falsification of accounts to cover up million dollar trading losses in Public Prosecutor v David John Kidd [2020] SGDC 83.
