Providence Law Asia Highlights (July – December 2025)

Providence Law Asia LLC has been involved in a number of significant matters before the Singapore courts and international tribunals in the second half of this year, from high-profile defamation suits and investor–state disputes to substantial restructuring cases.

Key highlights include:

  • Acting in COSCO Shipping Specialized Carriers Co., Ltd. v PT OKI Pulp & Paper Mills, where the Court of Appeal dismissed Cosco Shipping’s appeal against the lower court’s decision to vary the anti-suit injunction (the lower court imposed a condition that Cosco Shipping waives any time-bar defence in an on-going arbitration).
  • Representing the Russian Federation in the Hulley v Russia enforcement proceedings concerning a US$50 billion arbitral award.
  • Cryptocurrency arbitration – we acted for a well-known decentralised data exchange protocol in a complex JAMS arbitration with a dispute valued in excess of $500 million. Proceedings are ongoing and have spawned parallel litigation in multiple jurisdictions.
