Nilesh Khetan

Nilesh is a Counsel with the firm. He has acted in various corporate and commercial disputes, spanning a wide range of subject matters including insurance, trade finance, insolvency, property, shipping and construction.

Nilesh graduated from the National University of Singapore with an LL.B. (Hons) in 2022, and was admitted to the Singapore Bar as an Advocate & Solicitor in 2023. Prior to joining Providence Law Asia in 2026, Nilesh completed his training in the tax & private wealth practice of an established international law firm and practiced in a Senior Counsel’s team at a leading Singapore law firm.

Professional Experience

  • Acted for Avra International DMCC, a commodities trader, in its dispute with Dava Pte. Ltd., the disponent owner of a vessel, in respect of a cargo of coal onboard the vessel. Avra’s claims against Dava lie inter alia in the torts of conversion and inducement of breach of contract.
  • Acted for Challenger Trade Finance Segregated Portfolio of the South Africa Alpha SPC in litigation proceedings against QBE Insurance (Singapore) Pte Ltd in relation to a trade credit insurance claim. In this case, Challenger claims that QBE agreed to indemnify the insured buyers in respect of certain losses arising out of their sale and shipment of goods on deferred terms with named buyers. The claim amount is roughly US$4.5m.
  • Acted for Corpbond Holdings Pte Ltd in litigation proceedings involving claims by multiple accredited investors for, inter alia, breach of contract, misrepresentation, conspiracy and breach of fiduciary duties.
  • Acted as instructed counsel in matrimonial proceedings in respect of the wife’s application for a Mareva injunction and/or an injunction under the Women’s Charter 1961 against the husband’s assets. In order to show that the husband had been concealing/ dissipating his assets to frustrate the maintenance orders made by the Family Court, the application involved a close examination of the husband’s financial affairs.
  • Acted for Shinhan Investment Corporation in its cross-border claim in fraud and conspiracy against multiple defendants arising from a US$14 million dollar private equity deal for the purchase of shares in WeWork Companies Inc.
  • Acted for Sabana Real Estate Investment Management Pte. Ltd. (in its capacity as manager of Sabana Industrial Real Estate Investment Trust) in various proceedings against former tenants for breach of the relevant tenancy agreements.
  • Acted for the Claimant in an adjudication determination under the Building and Construction Industry Security of Payment Act 2004 (2020 Rev Ed), in respect of a contract for the design, supply and installation of a stainless steel pool at the Respondent’s residence.
