East Asia Practice
Providence Law Asia has developed a growing East Asia practice in response to the growing need of Chinese-speaking entities doing business in South East Asia. We are experienced in advising and representing our clients in international arbitration and Singapore litigation. Our foreign counsel, a New York-qualified Taiwanese lawyer, together with our team of lawyers practising Singapore law, allow us to provide our clients with legal advice that are sensitive to their needs. We have lawyers who are bilingual in Mandarin and English.
Our representative cases include:
- Representing the Singapore subsidiary of one of Taiwan’s largest electronics manufacturing company against one of its employees, in the sum of over US$5 million for conversion and/or breach of implied contractual duties of good faith and fidelity.
- Advising a Vietnam-Taiwan joint venture in relation to their exclusive dealership agreement with one of the world’s leading forklift trucks and parts manufacturer.
- Representing Kyen Resources, a Singapore subsidiary of the Chinese shipping and logistics conglomerate Shenzhen Feima International Supply Chain, against various lawsuits brought by its creditors, including Mitsubishi Corporation RTM.
- Advising a Hong Kong company in respect of a potential dispute with one of ASEAN’s leading regional bank involving complex foreign-exchange trading.
