SICC dismisses jurisdictional challenge based on repudiation of an arbitration agreement

Abraham Vergis, S.C., Jiaxiang Zhuo, and Asiyah Arif were recently successful in resisting an appeal against a positive jurisdictional ruling issued by an arbitral Tribunal in the Singapore International Court. The jurisdictional challenge was mounted on the basis that the arbitration agreement set out in the joint venture agreement between parties had been repudiated when one party pursued court proceedings on matters which related to the obligations under the joint venture contract.
