We are delighted to also announce that our Restructuring and Insolvency team was involved in the Singapore High Court decision (Yap Sze Kam v Yang Kee Logistics Pte Ltd and another matter [2023] SGHC 43) which was recognised as one of the “Impact Cases of the Year” in the recent Benchmark Litigation Asia-Pacific Awards 2024. This was the only restructuring and insolvency decision identified by Benchmark Litigation as being one of the twenty most impactful decisions in Asia-Pacific.

In this matter, Providence Law Asia LLC acted for the receivers from Kroll in successfully resisting two judicial management applications filed against entities within the Yang Kee Group. Significantly, the Singapore High Court considered the interplay between the implications of the judicial management applications and the fact that receivers had already been appointed by various secured lenders. This culminated in a decision which became widely discussed locally and internationally.
