Yeonji (Anna) Koh

Anna is a Foreign Counsel with the firm. Her experience includes international arbitration under various institutional arbitration frameworks, and cross-border disputes across multiple jurisdictions including Singapore, South Korea, the United Kingdom, and the United Arab Emirates.

She has experience assisting with dispute resolution and international arbitration matters through prior internships and legal training opportunities. Most recently, she served as tribunal secretary in an ICC arbitration involving US, Singaporean, and Japanese parties in relation to a renewable energy power plant dispute, acting as the sole tribunal secretary to a sole arbitrator. Anna was also a mini pupil at a barrister’s chambers in London, where she gained exposure to complex international construction and commercial disputes. Prior to joining Providence Law Asia, she worked at an international law firm’s Seoul branch as a New York Bar apprentice, supporting the firm’s transactional practice in shipping and project finance matters. In addition, Anna has undertaken pro bono work with a Refugee Rights Centre, where she assisted with case strategy and written submissions relating to refugee status proceedings in South Korea.

Anna graduated with an L.L.B. (Hons) from the University of Nottingham and has an L.L.M. from the National University of Singapore specialising in International Arbitration and Dispute Resolution. She was actively involved in mooting during her undergraduate studies and was a student member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators during her postgraduate studies.

Anna is fluent in English and Korean and possesses basic proficiency in Fus-ha (Modern Standard Arabic).

Professional Experience

  • Served as tribunal secretary to the sole arbitrator in an ICC arbitration involving US, Singaporean, and Japanese parties concerning a renewable energy dispute. Organised procedural history for the final award; proofread procedural orders and awards; summarised party submissions, exhibits, technical expert reports, factual witness statements; organised hearings and tribunal files; conducted legal research and citation checks; and managed transcript extraction and closing submission organisation post-hearing. Attended and supported a 3-day chess clock hearing.
  • Conducted research relating to bilateral investment treaties, ICSID cases, arbitral rules, and construction arbitration issues in support of international dispute matters.
  • Assisted with drafting, exhibit review, hearing preparation, and document management in commercial and construction-related disputes.
  • Gained exposure to international construction and commercial disputes through a mini pupillage at a barrister’s chambers in London.
  • Assisted with pro bono refugee rights work involving cross-border legal issues under Egyptian and South Korean law as well as international refugee law. Spearcase strategy and written submissions relating to refugee status proceedings before the Korean court. Responsible for case strategy, refugee interviews, evidence management and the preparation of written submissions before the Korean courts.
