Providence Law Asia LLC’s Abraham Vergis, S.C. moderated the fireside chat with Mr Ho Kwon Ping at the Singapore International Mediation Centre (SIMC)’s event “Future of Commercial Diplomacy: Mediation Amidst Disruptive Technologies and Geopolitics” on 26 August 2026.

The conversation highlighted the need for mediators to appreciate the civilizational values that shape parties’ perspectives, and to understand the shift in these values as global dynamics evolve. Mr Ho also commented on the criticality of the rule of law in these times. The chat concluded with Mr Ho sharing his personal experience in transforming a heavily polluted tin mine in Phuket into the Banyan Tree Phuket, and noting that with a creative approach even the most intractable disputes can find a path towards resolution.
