Providence Law Asia promotes two Directors

We are delighted to start 2022 on a positive note by sharing some exciting news – Asiyah Arif and Vanathi Ray have been appointed as Directors of Providence Law Asia from 1 January 2022.

We are incredibly proud of Asiyah’s promotion because she joined us as a trainee in 2013 and is now the first born-and-bred PLA Counsel to make Director. Throughout her career, Asiyah has proven herself to be a highly competent and trusted advisor to clients in some of the most challenging and sensitive cases that our firm has had to deal with. Asiyah’s practice covers a diverse range of matters – extending from complex construction law adjudications to arbitrations against foreign states, and actions for the enforcement of multi-billion dollar foreign judgements in Singapore. We believe that this appointment is a reflection of the invaluable contributions she has made to the firm, and the recognition that she has received as a top-drawer legal talent.

We are also delighted to welcome back into our fold Vanathi Ray, who left us to work for an NGO in Calcutta to fight human trafficking. Vanathi has extensive experience in a broad spectrum of international arbitration and commercial litigation cases, covering diverse areas such as oil and gas, infrastructure, commodities, and hospitality. An Advocacy Cup winner in her law school days, Vanathi is a formidable presence in court and has also been teaching trial advocacy skills to students since 2013. She currently serves on the Advocacy sub-committee of the Law Society.

Please join us in congratulating our new Directors!
